(Note that this involves pushing downward into the knob, not left/right or up/down.) If there’s no Play Start marker, playback begins from the Loop Start, whether the loop is active or not.

Press Play to begin from the Play Start marker. The following assumes you’re starting from a stopped transport. The Play, Rec, and Stop buttons do what you’d expect, but there’s more to the story than that-there are several nuanced options. The following describes how the control surface for the current S-series Mk2 keyboards integrates currently with Studio One click here for information from PreSonus on suitability with other NI keyboards, and updates.

When it’s time to mix and you want full integration with Studio One’s mixer, press the MIXER button. Controls that don’t relate to a synth or effect, such as the Transport, Metronome, Tape Tempo, and the like remain active. To edit NKS plug-ins, press the PLUG-IN mode button in the keyboard’s cluster of six buttons, toward the upper right.

1).įigure 2: How to add the Komplete keyboard as a control surface for DAW integration.
#NATIVE INSTRUMENTS KOMPLETE 7 LATENCY SERIES#
Scroll to the entry for Native Instruments, unfold it, and select either your A/M or S series keyboard for Receive From and Send To. There’s a lot to cover, and since this is more like a tutorial than a tip, it’s split into three parts: DAW control with Studio One, creating custom templates for plug-ins, and how to apply the templates in your workflow.Ĭhoose Studio One > Options > External Devices, and click Add. Also, unlike standard NKS, you’ll be able to control effects, regardless of whether or not they’re inserted in an instrument track. Although these keyboards are theoretically dedicated to NKS-compatible plug-ins and mixer/transport hands-on control, with Windows systems (Mac fans, there’s more on this later) you can use the keyboard as a general-purpose, hands-on MIDI controller for non-NKS plug-ins, including all bundled PreSonus effects and instruments (as well as plug-ins from other manufacturers). Its still the most comprehensive package of synths and samples I have seen.Studio One 4.53 introduced integration with Native Instruments’ Komplete series of keyboards, which is a big deal. It felt bad at the time, but as the products evolves, and the price today is something completely different, I dont feel bad. I also bought the K5 at 999E right before it fell to half the price. I do feel that the K7 is bundling alot of "expansion packs" rather than bringing alot new to the table, but for 199E I get Kontakt 4, Absynth 5 and lots of expansions, so its definetively worth it for me. So they returned the money promptly and without questions.
#NATIVE INSTRUMENTS KOMPLETE 7 LATENCY UPGRADE#
I asked if they could return my money, as I felt the upgrade to k6 was a bit redundant now that the k7 is up for order.

It hadnt, and they feared that it was lost in the post. After another 2 weeks, one and a half month later than I ordered it, I asked if it had returned to them. First they told me to wait longer, so the post-office would return it to them. I managed to write in the wrong posting adress, and it didnt arrive at any of the postal offices. I ordered Komplete 6 UPG at the super price this summer. Komplete is good enough that no matter how you get there, it is a good deal. Yet Kontakt4 is so great- all is in balance, as you say. K6 was not all that great for me, as GR4 and Absy5 were really not too special. And basically it is true, if you are not current with Komplete, you are missing out as there is usually something great in there (often multiple great products). cYeah, you're right, my life is better (maybe not literally richer) from having experienced Kontakt 4 (and 4.1 especially). This is the beauty of the pricing structure. But would that be a smart move for you? Would life be better if you stayed on Komplete 6 and saved the dough, therefore not enjoying Komplete 7, 8, and 9 during the next intervening three or four years? I mean, you could sit out the next two or three Kompletes and rejoin when it is, like, Komplete 10 or something and pay $200 then.
#NATIVE INSTRUMENTS KOMPLETE 7 LATENCY PROFESSIONAL#
Presumably this means your life was richer - and this means literally richer if you're a professional musician - during this time than those who sat it out. The idea is that you got to use those Komplete 6 in the meantime, unlike those other guys who sat it out.
